Thank you for your support this year!

You Made this Possible

Nick Wormley

Nick Wormley '00, MBA '02

Vice President of Development and Alumni Affairs

What a year! At Quinnipiac University, we have entered the 2024-25 academic year invigorated by the possibility that lies ahead, building on a solid foundation of successes and achievements. But we cannot overlook that these opportunities to explore, grow, and push our own boundaries, were made possible by you — our most devoted alumni and friends.

Last year, your support directly impacted Quinnipiac students and faculty in the areas that inspired and empowered them, encouraging them to realize their potential and charge towards our vision to build the University of the Future.

As we approach a historic milestone in less than 5 years — our centennial celebration in 2029 — we have no plans to slow down. At Quinnipiac, we see the future as one of opportunity for our students and faculty, one where innovation is boundless, and our campus spaces and degree programs are proof that our institution is ready to respond to the needs of a changing world. In fact, I’m pleased to share our ranking among the top 100 2025 Best Colleges in the U.S., as reported by The Wall Street Journal/College Pulse, a reflection of our unstoppable momentum!

Quinnipiac’s next, great chapter is waiting, and as we pursue new, ambitious goals, I feel truly fortunate to have such proud and generous champions by my side.

Thank you for your support this year.

The Quinnipiac Fund: New Challenges, Same Reliable Support

The newly imagined Quinnipiac Fund continues to deliver the same crucial support our students rely on - with an even wider reach! As an unrestricted fund, our annual fund provides the flexibility to respond to emerging needs and opportunities as they happen. The impact of gifts made to the Quinnipiac Fund are far-reaching, making it possible to:
  • Invest in new academic programs
  • Enhance student life initiatives
  • Fund scholarships
  • Supplement costs for study abroad excursions
  • Fuel faculty research and development
  • Strengthen innovative learning experiences

…and so much more!

The Gift That Keeps on Giving

Participating in the Quinnipiac Fund gives you a voice in the current and future direction of the university! Your gift, regardless of the size, is a vote of confidence in our mission and gives the university the ability to provide students and faculty with more resources to be successful and pioneering on campus, abroad - no matter where our Bobcats are called!

Unlike endowments, which are invested to provide a long-term source of income, gifts to the Quinnipiac Fund can be used immediately.

Flexibility

Unrestricted funds give the organization the flexibility to allocate resources where they are most needed. This could be anything from launching new programs, hiring additional staff, or providing emergency financial aid to students.

Sustainability

Regular contributions to the Quinnipiac Fund provide a steady and reliable source of income. This financial stability allows the university to plan for the future with confidence.

Leverage

Often, foundations and corporations will look at the percentage of alumni or members who donate to the university when considering grant applications. So, a gift to the Quinnipiac Fund, regardless of size, can help leverage additional funding that supports students and faculty.

The Impact of Student, Program and Faculty Support

Yealie Ulaba-Samura ’25 Psychology

In addition to her studies in psychology, political science, and theater, Yealie serves as president of the Black Student Union and a QUEST mentor. She’s also a member of the National Society of Leadership and Success and works as a research assistant specializing in obsessive-compulsive disorder at Yale School of Medicine and serves as a resident assistant for the multicultural living-learning communities at QU. Yealie’s diverse and dynamic student experience is just further proof of what your support makes possible!

“Receiving this financial aid has shaped my Quinnipiac experience in more ways that I can count. From funding my study abroad journey in Italy – a once in a lifetime experience – to opening the door to valuable leadership training and development opportunities as a Sawhney Fellow, I could have never imagined how much I would gain at Quinnipiac in four short years. Scholarship support has certainly eased a financial burden, but it also signifies a meaningful endorsement of my academic journey, enabling me to fully immerse myself in the academic experience and learn with, and from, the best.”

Elena Hernandez ’25 | Nursing - Accelerated Program

Elena Hernandez ’25 Nursing - Accelerated Program

Medical Operations Officer, 1-102D Infantry (Mountain) Battalion, Connecticut Army National Guard | While she won’t graduate until January 2025, Elena is already putting her nursing degree to work as a member of the Quinnipiac Student Nurses Association (QSNA)! There she works with her peers to enhance QU’s nursing program—and support one another’s growth. In addition to her work with QSNA, Elena works for Life Star with Hartford Healthcare, where she’s building the skills to achieve her ultimate goal: to enhance military healthcare with excellence and compassion, ensuring the well-being of service members. Thanks to donor support, Elena can focus on her education and military obligations instead of the financial stress of pursuing a nursing degree.

“Being a Bobcat means embodying a commitment to excellence, community, and a holistic approach to healthcare. What drew me to Quinnipiac was their reputation for academic and professional excellence and being a military friendly university. As a veteran, finding a supportive and understanding academic community was very important to me, especially since I am still serving.”

Yasha Laskin ’24, MBA ’25 | Accounting

Yasha Laskin ’24, MBA ’25 Accounting

For Yasha, Quinnipiac is all about community. As a member of the men’s tennis team, the Accounting Club, and the Beta Gamma Sigma Honor Society, he’s found new ways to grow, build relationships, and thrive as a leader. Yasha credits his commitments outside the classroom for helping shape his emotional intelligence and providing opportunities to mentor, valuable skills he looks forward to applying to his future career. These experiences wouldn’t have been possible without the scholarship support that made his Quinnipiac dreams a reality.

“Receiving this scholarship is an extreme honor. The financial assistance has allowed me to devote more time to studying for my upper-level accounting and MBA courses this semester. Knowing that there are donors who believe in my future is a big inspiration for me to complete my goals. I am tremendously grateful for the opportunity to focus on my success in the future without financial limitations.”

Thanks to the generous support of donors, this trip has not only enhanced my education but also inspired me to continue striving for excellence and to give back to communities in need. I am deeply grateful for this opportunity, which was a transformative experience that has made a lasting difference in my life. I will be carrying forward the lessons and experiences gained from this trip for the rest of my life.”

A New Era for Quinnipiac Hockey

This February marked the grand opening of the Rand and Nikki Pecknold Hockey Suite and Women’s Hockey Lounge, the first phase in a historic renovation project made possible by the collective support of Quinnipiac’s generous alumni and friends, including the largest philanthropic gift the athletic department has ever received. Now, in our second phase, focused on the team’s locker room, players can enjoy a pristine space for film-study, schoolwork and leisure time, with all the amenities one might expect to find in the players’ lounge of a National Hockey League arena.
